The sapling and the tree

“It is remarkable how closely the history of the apple tree is connected with that of man” – Henry David Thoreau

The sapling was vulnerable – it had been thrown to the ground and trampled upon and only by chance did it find some earth. It struggled to embed its roots deep into the hardened soil and it only caught glimpses of sunlight yet held onto the hope that it would still survive and grow. It gradually anchored despite many storms and droughts and it drew nourishment from the earth as its Mother.

Seasons passed….moments became memories , days and months became years. The sapling grew with each touch of love from the sun up above, grew stronger through the nurturing nourishment deep within the soil and learned with every rain drop.

The sapling eventually grew into a mighty Oak tree. Strength within its trunk,, courage within each leaf and hope held deep within its roots. – evie angel : ) 27/7/13
